Giving Cancer the Axe | November 5

Our Clubhouse provides free emotional support for anyone affected by cancer whether it is their own diagnosis or that of a loved one or friend. Our Clubhouse originated as Gilda’s Clubhouse at their Pittsburgh, Pa. location on Smallman Street.

The organization’s name changed to Our Clubhouse in 2014 following a merger with another company and the Greensburg location opened in 2015. At this time there are over 100 members and 70 to 100 volunteers. The programs provided include “Living Life – Post Cancer Treatment” a free nine week program for adults with any type of cancer diagnosis and who have completed treatment within the past two years. There is also a program for children called “CLIMB” (Children’s Lives Include Moments of Bravery), which is a free four week program held at the Mt. Pleasant Library for children ages 6 through 11 who have an adult family member with cancer. In addition, they hold sessions entitled “Coffee and Chat”, “Sit, Stretch & Meditate” and “Family Craft Night” to name just a few.
